About Us

There's a storybook element about this place, where history lies deep within the shores and the sweet river breezes move through our patios walls.

The history of this 10-acre tract of land starts with the first settlement in this valley along the Susquehanna. From that point in time, the river became the focal point of many activities and commerce. The railroad used the land to transport coal from deep in the mines of this great valley.

The coal, and in later years the oil industry occupied the ground as The Flynn Coal & Oil Company. It was purchased in 1995 from Rutledge Flynn as the first step in what may be "I have a vision..."

The land encompassing the Waterfront Complex was purchased in 1995 as part of a vision to create a Hospitality/Entertainment Complex that would take advantage of the natural beauty of the Susquehanna River and the mountains that create the Wyoming Valley and the entrance to the city of Wilkes-Barre.

The next 8 years were filled with challenges that tested the patience of many. Environmental testing needed to be performed, sewer lines put in and a street light installed to handle the 30,000 cars a day that passed by River Street. Finally, after 7 short years, this magnificent five story, 63,000 S.F. building that houses the 30,000 S.F. Waterfront Banquet Convention Center along with decks and patios was built. Designed by local architect, John Lukasavage and built by local contractors, Mountain Stream Construction.
